The development of Albion Riverside has strengthened a revitalised community on the south bank of the Thames. Hutchison Whampoa have created a landmark residential-led mixed-use scheme, providing high specification residential accommodation.
Davis Langdon worked closely with both Hutchison Whampoa and fellow design team members to deliver a stunning, award winning development.
The scheme comprises three separate buildings linked by new public spaces and routes. With a floor area of 551,364 square feet, the main private residential building comprises eleven storeys and 195 units, fitness and gallery areas, and basement car parking.
There is also a four-storey office building and a five-storey affordable residential block for the Peabody Trust. Shops, business spaces, cafés and leisure facilities are grouped at ground level.
Key features include a complex curved metal roof, continuous curved glazed balustrades on the river view, an aluminium veil on the rear elevation and new public landscaping along the riverside. The contract period was 130 weeks, using a Bespoke Construction Management contract. The scheme has attracted an array of awards:
Concrete Society Award 2004, National Homebuilder Design Award 2005 and Wandsworth Design Award 2005. At Davis Langdon we used our in-depth understanding of the key cost drivers in this sector, to assure the project’s successful delivery.
