Ian joined Davis Langdon at the Cape Town office in 1991. He was promoted to office manager in Stellenbosch in 1993. In 1995, he started the Tygerberg office and became a Director in 1998. The Tygerberg office amalgamated with the Stellenbosch office in 2006.

His project expertise include cost planning, procurement and cost management of building and civil engineering work.
