On 1 July 2007, the Christchurch based quantity surveying consultancy, Shipston Davies, merged its business with Davis Langdon. At that time Ross became a Principal of Davis Langdon. Ross has 28 years experience having been a director of Shipston Davies Ltd in Christchurch for the last 14 years. He has served on the committee of the Canterbury Branch of the New Zealand Institute of Quantity Surveyors for 9 years having been chairman, secretary and on the membership interview panel during this time. Ross has also been a member of the Rotary Club of Christchurch for 13 years. His project expertise includes cost planning and cost management of construction projects in all sectors of the building industry, but specialising in education, and local and central government contracts.
